Lower Attainers Accessing the Curriculum

A project in 3 parts (3 afternoons over 3 terms**)

This course is part of the Enrichment Training series

Session 1: Thursday 14th May 2020
1.30pm - 4.00pm
Venue: PDC, Room 101

Project Aims:  To explore ways of supporting lower attainers (without going into SEND specific training) to access the core and wider curriculum. Participants will be expected to trial in their classes some of the approaches from the Inset sessions and report back at subsequent sessions.

** Please note that the course is applicable to any year group in KS1 & 2 so if participants move year groups at the end of this year it will not affect their ability to take part in the project.

The training will address the following:

SESSION 1: Defining our study group – lower attainers (those pupils working towards expected standards NOT SEND pupils)

Considerations in supporting the lower attainers to make progress from their starting points

Teaching techniques and models to support access to the curriculum

Focus on English and maths in the first session.

Gap task: Try out techniques/ models from Inset

 

SESSION 2: AUTUMN DATE TBC

Reporting back on findings and trials in class

Teaching techniques and models to support access to the curriculum

Focus on science and the wider curriculum.

Gap task: Continue to try out techniques from Inset.

 

SESSION 3: SPRING DATE TBC

Reporting back on findings and trials in class

Teaching techniques and models to support access to the curriculum

Focus on the wider curriculum.
